Hi I'm Mick Hill. or MicKarchie if you follow Twitter. In October 2008 we bought a smartfortwo  because we were running a house and petsitting business and because we were very busy we needed a second vehicle to let my wife do jobs separate from me,During this period we received a lot of support from Smart of Poole and quite a few follow up phone calls to find out that we were happy with the car. The business went  well until August 2009 when my wife who had been diagnosed with a brain tumour had the op to remove it with the result that she had to give up her driving licence. We retained the car for ease of getting to Southampton hospital for treatment and follow up, our other vehicle is a 26 ft. motorhome. We are still going to hospital but in May of this year we intend to get on the ferry to France and just tour for about three months through Europe so have decided to sell Smartie before we go.We have advertized locally but got no joy.So we thought that Smart car would either buy it back or sell it on commission. We phoned Smart  of Poole approx 2 months ago and were told the buyer was out the office but would phone me back, still waiting I phoned again two weeks ago, SORRY he's out the office, will phone back, STILL WAITING. I contacted the buyer at Smart of Portsmouth a few days ago he was interested and asked me to send a email with details and photo and would get back with an offer. Guess what, Still waiting. Seems to me that  Mercedes Benz, Smart are very pleased to sell cars and get good praise for their vehicle which I have to say we have been very pleased with but to follow up other enquiries is not in their book.Wake up M.B this is 2011 the customer is god. Mick Hill

Hi Ron.Thanks for comments. We already have a trailer for Smartie and are looking to sell this as well.We don't want to take it on tour because the mountains we drive up would kill Archie (the motorhome)Because of a 50% loss on the value of smartie (we have been offered £4000-00 by Mercedes and another dealer the retail value approx £5000-00 to £5,500-00) we have decided to keep it for a while and fit an A-frame when we get back, which I hope is ok, as Mercedes wouldn't honour the warranty if we fitted one when we bought it.Does anyone know if an A-frame does harm the mechanics of the car.Looking forward to our Grand Day Out 2011.

Hi im Ron and a new member .I am sorry to read of your wifes condition but envy you your tour plan .Its just a thought but why not do what others have done and get a trailer and take smartie,he could be helpful in a breakdown and handy for sightseeing arround the places you visit .Good luck and enjoy your trip and best wishes to your partner Ron

Couple of comments. My complaint is not that they wont buy the car, it's the lack of courtesy in not returning my calls. as I said when selling the car they were forever on the phone. Now they can't even call me back.Doesn't do much for P.R.Also the car is only two and a half years old so don't know what makes you think it's old.Re:- the car buying companies,It's no wonder they buy any car at their offers.Re:- my wife, thank you but one of the cancers is not responding and may need op.

Have you tried one of those car buying companies that advertise on TV all the time? Not wishing to cause you offence but your car is a bit old for the dealers now...they normally go for under 3 years in my experience. The chance of them selling it on is slim at anything older. Its not just mercedes.... don't think any of them would. Hope your wife is feeling a bit better now.
