A cool way to encourage teens to let their parents know they're safe and sound is worth its weight in gold!

And this is where the I'mOK iPhone app comes into play. Rather like the quirky, cute yet infinitely practical smart car, this jaunty little app also engages your kids while keeping you in the loop.

The easy-to-use app incorporates an element of gaming to egg on youngsters into letting their parents know where they are and what they're up to. A free app, I'mOK works by using a personalised and private family group setting that you can each log in to and then ‘check in' using location-based technology.

What's rather smart is the app lets the kids gain points by checking in and more for adding further info like who they're with by tagging their friends or by sending their folks an extra message. These points can then be used for real life treats as decided by the parents.

So if you're constantly pulling your hair out worrying where your teenager is, this smart phone app (that's soon coming to other platforms) might be just the ticket.
