It looks like Scotland is the latest place to go electric, thanks to an ambitious plan by the WWF (World Wildlife Fund).
The Scottish branch of the WWF has decided to work towards achieving a 42% reduction in Scotland's CO2 emissions by 2020 and the smart fortwo electric drive is going to play a major role in making it happen.
WWF have researched that if 10% of Scotland's 290,000 petrol-powered cars are replaced with electric cars like the zero-emission smart fortwo electric drive, it will make a major contribution to the desired result. Dr Sam Gardener from Scotland's WWF is quick to point out that the Scottish government ministers and local councils need to play their part too, so he has stated that all of the vehicles for these departments should be replaced by electric models by 2020 in order to set the right example.
There is also a strong focus on supporting the electric vehicle and renewable energy movement across Scotland, so it really is a total re-education towards cleaner, greener thinking. It's even possible that Scotland could produce so much renewable energy that it is able to export it to other countries. Now that really would be smart!
